Metaphor of the psychotherapeutic process
Phase 1: Before Psychotherapy
I walk down the street, there is a big hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I feel lost and powerless. There’s nothing I can do. It takes me forever to get out.
Phase 2: At the Beginning of Psychotherapy
I walk down the same street again. There is still a big hole in the sidewalk. I pretend not to see it. I fall in again. I can’t believe I’m in the same place. But there’s nothing I can do. It still takes a long time to get out.
Phase 3: Psychotherapy Begins to Bear Fruit
I still walk down the same street. There is still the same big hole in the sidewalk. I see it clearly. I still fall in… it’s a habit. But my eyes are open. I know where I am. I’ve realized that I am responsible for my actions. I get out immediately.
Phase 4: Psychotherapy is Nearing its End
I walk down the same street again. The hole is still there in the sidewalk. I avoid it and continue on my way.
Phase 5: Psychotherapy is Finished
I choose another street to make my way.

Discover the Different Horizons of Therapies
Every journey is unique: find the therapy that best suits your needs.
Integrative Psychotherapy
Integrative psychotherapy is an approach based on the idea that each person is unique and that the best therapeutic approach is the one that best meets their individual needs. Integrative therapists are trained in several psychotherapeutic approaches, allowing them to choose the techniques and interventions that will be most effective and appropriate for each patient. They also rely on their intuition and experience to create a personalized treatment plan. This is a flexible and adaptable approach.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapies
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that aims to modify negative cognitions (automatic thoughts, beliefs, or thought patterns) and dysfunctional behaviors. It is based on the idea that our thoughts influence our emotions and behaviors, and that negative or unrealistic thought patterns can lead to emotional or behavioral problems. CBT is founded on the idea that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interdependent, and that changing one of these elements can lead to changes in the others. CBT is generally a short-term treatment, lasting from a few weeks to a few months.
EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach originally designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories. Patients simultaneously focus on the traumatic memory and on bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements. It unfolds in several phases, where patients are first prepared with anxiety management techniques, and then gradually exposed to disturbing memories in a controlled setting. The goal is to reprocess the memories for adaptive storage in the brain. EMDR is validated by research for the treatment of PTSD and is gaining popularity for other disorders such as anxiety and depression. It is considered rapid and effective, often with observable results in fewer sessions than traditional therapies.
